Video shows NSW cop Jeames Murray throw Patrick Little into cell door

Video taken from CCTV cameras and bodycam shows the horrific moment an 18-year-old man is slammed into a wall and then thrown into a cell door during a dramatic arrest.

Patrick Little was arrested in January 12, 2019 for fighting outside a nightclub. He initially resisted arrest but then co-operated and returned to the station with police.

Footage obtained by ABC’s 7:30 of Mr Little exiting a paddywagon in the garage of the police station shows Senior Constable Jeames Iain Murray grab the teenager by the neck and push him into a wall before putting him in a headlock and instructing his colleague to open the door.

The boy is heard calling the officer a “piece of sh.t” before screaming “help me” as he is dragged into the station.

Moments later, Constable Murray throws him violently at the open door of the holding cell and then pushes him inside.

Mr Little tells him: “You’ve lost your job brother.”

A magistrate at Goulburn Local Court found Constable Murray guilty of two counts of common assault on Tuesday.

He was fined $3500 and had a conviction recorded.

The police officer had maintained his innocence throughout and claimed there was ongoing resistance and violence from Mr Little.

Magistrate Susan McGowan said while Mr Little’s behaviour may have irritated the officer, there was “no circumstance where this was warranted”.

“He was the adult and unfortunately he reacted in a way that was not appropriate, as I‘ve found,” she said.

Constable Murray has remained working at Goulburn police station since the incident on restricted duties.

A NSW Police spokesman said: “The officer remains on restricted duties. His employment status is currently under review.”
